Thirty in Eleven – TIE05
The weather forecast this morning was ‘iffy’ at best so I only brought along my Olympus E-P3 camera. I thought maybe I could grab a quick image during lunch or just before picking my daughter up from college. Even though the sun is setting way earlier than I am use to I did manage to wander around part of the SUNYIT campus after work. There was a beautiful sunset that I was able to capture in the reflection off the new nanotechnology building (I’ll share later) but what really caught my eye were the bicycle racks outside of the Student Center. Let me know what you think of them…
Bench Under the Tree
Pumpkin Spice
Thirty in Eleven – TIE04
I’m not sure it is a good thing that I was thinking about making these cookies all day at work. I knew with the sun setting early that my time outside would be limited and that if I made the cookies I would have a good subject for the fourth image in my project. Oh, and I could also eat some of them if they turned out OK.
Pssstt… they did! Quite delicious. Pumpkin spice cookies with cream cheese frosting. Just a little past Halloween but definitely in the fall spirit. My department at work will be happy as they get the bounty of my cooking experiments. No way I can leave these at home, they wouldn’t last long and I would be putting on the pounds.
Dusk Over the Field House
Thirty in Eleven – TIE03
A beautiful sunset and me without my tripod. I even left work a little early to get a jump on the sky as it was setting up for this show. I had to pick my daughter up at college tonight right around sunset and peeking out the windows at work I knew it was going to be a good one. Unfortunately, I had used the tripod on Friday when I went playing in the creek and failed to return it to the car. Now I needed to get creative with some handheld images. I’m always a fan of a strong silhouette and the view from the upper parking lots did not disappoint. This is looking southwest over the Wildcat Field House.
Sleepy Oliver
Thirty in Eleven – TIE02
I don’t believe I have introduced everyone to Oliver. He is just a little over six months old and we have been putting up with each other since he was six weeks old. Wasn’t sure I would ever want to be a cat person but then I cat sat my other new buddy Binx for a week and I was hooked. The chance to get Oliver fell into my lap and I am so glad I brought him home.
For my Thirty in Eleven project I remembered that my camera works inside as well. I don’t always have to look for interesting subjects outside, and although it is a beautifully sunny day, the wind and temps have had me thinking outside (or inside as the case may be) the box for my next image. So poor Oliver became the subject of my attention and eve though I am sure he would have rather been sleeping he allowed me to grab this portrait of him.
BTW – you can see more images of Oliver on my instagram feed…
Autumn Flow
Thirty in Eleven – TIE01
I have been very good at making excuses for not going out with the camera lately. I used everything from the weather to being too tired from work so I decided earlier in the week to give myself a project as a kick in the butt. Thinking of myself as a clever fella I settled on Thirty in Eleven as the name for my project. Which ultimately boils down to a picture a day in November. No real rules other than to take a picture by any means necessary each day in November.
Although it is rather late on November 1st I am posting my first of thirty wonderful creations (or at least a quick snapshot… lol). I had to work most of the day on end of the year inventory but I did get home before sunset and immediately grabbed the camera, tripod and a good CP filter to head off into the backyard creek. Nothing beats some colorful leaves and long exposure water flows, at least in my mind.
