Guardian Gone

Delta Lake State Park

Last night was the end of the work week. It was hot, humid and hazy. I thought there would be some great color in the sky at sunset. I drove over to my favorite (and closest state park) for the view. Although there were more people hanging around than I would have liked (don’t they know it is my park around sunset?), I did capture a few great images. It looks like the park upgraded the lifeguard towers. Nice to see they provide the guards some protection from the sun.

Big Picture

Big Bend, Letchworth State Park

I have probably droned on about my trip to Letchworth State Park a little too much but I am still processing all the amazing views I was able to capture. This early bird managed to catch a lot of worms that morning. There was barely a breeze in the air and I was able to capture a beautiful panoramic view of the Big Bend area of the park. The Genesee River does a complete about face and in early June, the sunrise is right behind the opposite wall of the gorge.

This is a six image panoramic captured about 15 minutes after the official sunrise. The sun was above the horizon but still behind the gorge wall. Luckily for me, the few clouds in the sky collected the early light and helped paint the sky for me. I couldn’t help but stand and enjoy the show.
