Cacophony in Water
Taughannock Falls State Park
My typical first visit when I venture down to the Ithaca area is Taughannock Falls State Park. It is my warm-up walk. A flat, 3/4 mile trail eases me into the day and at the end I am rewarded with a majestic view of the falls. Not a bad way to start a day…

Taughannock Falls State Park
Saturday I drove to Ithaca, NY to visit a few of the gorge trails in and around the area. I arrived at the first park around 6:30am and didn’t call it quits until almost six hours later. I visited three state parks and one wildflower preserve.
It was glorious!
It was a party cloudy day (rains forecast to arrive late in the day) which is almost perfect for waterfall photography. I did have to contend with a few “hot” spots while capturing my images but overall it was a great trip. It will take some time to process my pics, so I guess this post also serves as a warning of what to expect over the next few days.
I’ll start it off with a monochrome look of the small cascade at the entrance of Taughannock Falls State Park. I look forward to this view every visit and the recent rains provided the perfect amount of water in the creek. I sat and listened to the water tumbling over the steps for a little while before heading out on the trail for big prize at the end.
While I was working my way through the parks I was uploading images of the waterfalls processed with the Prisma app on my phone. This app allows my to create a “painted” look to the image. Here are those pics…
