Callaway Resort & Gardens
Near the Azalea Bowl at Callaway Resort & Gardens sits the Ida Cason Callaway Memorial Chapel. I have been capturing pictures of the chapel over the past year but I was never happy with the results. I struggled with the best way to capture this wonderful building, until this October. Maybe I was helped by bringing my whole camera backpack with me while I walked around Falls Creek Lake. Allowing me to access a greater range of focal lengths. Maybe I finally slowed down and truly saw the images in front of me… or maybe I finally got lucky.

I liked that I had to really look to find the chapel in the first image and I liked the reflections, but I really liked image #3. I remember having trouble getting a shot of that the one time I was ever there, probably 30 years ago. Didn’t walk around the lake, that was obviously my first mistake!
Yeah, I had to jump up to my 70-300mm lens in order to get the image I wanted. My 70mm didn’t have enough reach from across the little lake.
Looks so peaceful
Thank you.
Like Dawn, at first I missed the chapel in the first shot, but then I saw it peeking out. Shot #2 is my favorite – nice combination of color, reflection and showcasing of your subject.
Thanks!
