Wind Swept Sunrise

Backyard

Although I didn’t get that walk through the snow yesterday I did manage to snag this sunrise in the morning. I was distracted enough by getting my laundry done that as I was getting ready to leave to have the car looked at I noticed the colors in the sky and the winter beach look to the snow. I had a few minutes, so I put the camera on the tripod and trudged my way into the backyard. I almost called this one red, white and blue morning…

Just Thinkin’

Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World

Wow! Ten days! My last post was a week and a half ago. It has been some crazy days. I made a one day trip to Detroit to perform an inspection at a supplier. I fought through a sinus cold and then there was Stella. Winter storm Stella thought it would be fun to let us not forget Spring does not official start until March 20th. Oh, and didn’t we loose an hour somewhere around last Sunday. I keep looking for it but I think it will be quite a few months before I find it and get it back.

At least it is the weekend! Saturday morning and I have started my chores. Second load of laundry is in the washing machine. The dust bunnies tell me it is also time to get out more cleaning supplies than the vacuum. Later this morning I’ll be bringing a car to the garage to look for an oil leak and if all goes well, I’ll be pushing my way through some snow with the camera. Until then here is Goofy thinking it is time for me to return for a visit…

Front Side of Reverse Water

Monorail Monday
Future World, Epcot

Back in March of 2016, I drove my Mom and Grandpa done to Florida for their Spring stay at my Mon’s place in Lake Alfred. After getting everyone situated and the house opened up I snuck away one day for a visit to Epcot. The International Flower & Garden Festival had started and being this close was an opportunity I could not pass up. I still managed to get in quite a lot of monorail hunting on a single day visit… 🙂

Fort Gratiot Lighthouse

USCG Station, Fort Gratiot, Port Huron, Michigan

Yesterday I shared my after dinner image of the USCG Cutter Hollyhock. Today I present the Fort Gratiot Lighthouse. The lighthouse is North of the Blue Water Bridge at the active U.S. Coast Guard station Fort Gratiot. Before we headed to dinner on Thurday we walked down to the St. Clair river at Lighthouse Park. I was able to capture these images of the lighthouse and surrounding station buildings as the sun was starting to drop below the clouds.

The walk from the parking lot to the beach did not give away the cold wind blowing that evening. I grabbed as many pictures as I could before we started back. It was then we realized are light jackets were not enough in the face of the wind now blowing directly into us. It made for a quicker pace back to the car.

Hollyhock

Port Huron, Michigan

The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Hollyhock stationed in Port Huron, Michigan with the Blue Water Bridge into Canada in the background. After a long day at a supplier’s building on Thursday we drove up to Port Huron for dinner with a friend. After dinner I was able to get down to the St. Clair river and get this blue hour image of the Hollyhock docked for the night. Too bad it was probably my last trip to this area as the supplier is closing and our business with them will be done in a matter of weeks.

Delta Sunset Silhouette

Delta Lake State Park

Not one to generally let a good sunset go to waste, I was running out the door after noticing how the sky was starting to look. I quickly decided my best chance for a good show would be over at Delta Lake State Park. I was not proven wrong…

Although my Sunday morning excursion for the images of the ferry on Chautauqua Lake turned out better than expected, that lake was practically free of ice. Now Delta Lake is still very much covered in ice but I do not think it would support much weight. I’m not going to complain though as the ice along with the bare spots provided some very nice reflections for this sunset image. I know today is suppose to be even warmer but I’m hoping there will be another opportunity for me to grab a sunset.
