Centered Calm

Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest, China Pavilion, Epcot

I’ve mentioned before how much I enjoy photographing around World Showcase in Epcot at night. One of my favorite areas is the China Pavilion. The architecture and colors really pull my attention to this pavilion at all times during the day. But as soon as the sun goes down and the lights come on I am drawn even more to capture images within this beautifully detailed area.

This image is another result of me goofing up. I am not entirely positive what I did but I obviously moved the camera during this six second exposure. What fascinates me about this image is the area of clear, undisturbed focus in the bottom third of the image. I love the fact there is an individual standing at the entrance contemplating entering. Especially this week, this image represents a search for that calming center as the chaos still churns around me. It doesn’t hurt that this building is a representation of a Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest

Aqueduct Movement

Old Erie Canal Park, DeWitt, NY

On Monday I was busy at work trying to get ready for a trip out of town. When lunch rolled around I definitely needed to step away from my desk for a little while. I headed over to the Old Erie Canal Park to see what remained of the autumn colors. It was an overcast day but I knew that would work to my advantage for some longer exposure images.

In the course of playing under the Butternut Creek aqueduct I accidentally pressed the shutter as I was adjusting my tripod. This is one of those times were I don’t think I could have created this image on purpose. In the past I have experimented with intentional camera movement and some of the images created were worth sharing. When I saw this image in Lightroom I knew I wanted to process it. It might not speak to anyone but I think because of my frequent visits to the aqueduct this summer it really does to me.
