The Other World

I’ve been cooped up at the apartment all week. Working from home and venturing out for supplies when needed. I was beginning to go a little stir crazy. So, when Friday afternoon rolled around I closed the work laptop at 3:30pm, grabbed the camera bag and headed to my rejuvenation center, the botanical garden.

And it worked wonders for me!

Walking around the gardens with the afternoon sun warming my face was exactly what I needed. Damn, I feel so much better. The images didn’t really matter, the experience is what I needed. I think when I reviewed what I had captured I threw away more than I kept but again, that wasn’t the point.

I did want to share a quote I found the other day…

Electric Lily

I’ve been absent these past few days. I have a tooth that is always sensitive to sinus issues so I thought it was a cold but by Sunday I knew it was a tooth problem. I ended up cancelling a business trip to get myself to the dentist. Still working on getting that tooth dealt with but I’m finally feeling closer to normal (except for the tooth of course). Anyway, enough with that…

Saturday, when I was at the botanical garden, I found a lone water lily. I played a little too close to the water to get a close-up but I think it was worth it. And yes, definitely kept telling myself… “don’t drop the camera, don’t get the lens wet, what are you doing?”. This might not be everyone’s cup of tea but I like this electric effect…

Beautiful Saturday mornings are not to be wasted. At least that is what I told myself to get moving this morning. I also have to leave on a business trip Monday and will not get a chance to visit my local haunts for almost a week. Plus, we all know I can settle my butt on the couch easy enough so… off I ventured.

First stop was Cooper Creek Park to continue practicing my bird photography. I still have a lot to learn but the attempt is fun. I ran into another photographer and he shared a few more local places for me to explore. Destinations duly noted! Thanks Matt!

Before I went back home I drove to the botanical garden. Early morning is my time. Generally not many visitors and only a handful of volunteers. Practically had the place to myself… so wonderful.
