Delta Lake State Park
I wasn’t positive how much time I would have before the rains but after a long day at the desk I needed to be out of the apartment. I was amazed at how many boats there were on the lake. The line of boats waiting for the boat ramp was almost comical. It appeared that everyone waited until the last minute before deciding to disembark the lake.
Rather than go for my usual view from the beach I walked out to the point which is typically on the right in my images from the beach. This allowed a better look at the setting sun, even if it was behind the clouds at the time. I waited until the sun was almost visible before capturing the colors. The orange separation between the blue in the clouds and the blue in the water was very striking.
As soon as I captured my view I felt the first rain drop. It was time to go. I made it back to the car with a minute to spare. The rain wasn’t the downpour I imagined it would be, but I wasn’t in the mood to get soaked…
Delta Lake State Park
Another drama filled sunset, another trip to Delta Lake to see the show. The day was cooler than it has been and the evening wasn’t going to be any better. At least the clouds passing through the area provided some interest in the sky at sunset. It was a good time to visit Delta Lake.
I almost had the beach area to myself. There was only one family and we managed to maintain our social distancing without any issues. I found a spot where the water barely breached a small sand bar and it created a great opportunity for a reflection. Probably wouldn’t be one of my sunsets without that reflection… 🙂
West Canada Creek
Although the temperature was a little cooler than I would have liked, Sunday was a great day to play in the West Canada Creek. The volume of water flowing in the creek was not at the level of spring run off but the velocity created a few interesting sections where the water navigated the rocks among the creek bed.
I was sharing my spot with a handful of fly fishermen. I couldn’t tell if they were having any success but I definitely was capturing some good images. My success rate increased when I switched to the opposite side of the creek and shot with the sun rather than into it. Probably didn’t hurt that a few more clouds rolled in and helped reduce the glare on the water.
The hour I spent playing in the creek was exactly the adventure I needed. Listening to the sound of the rushing water always has a positive affect on me. It doesn’t hurt that I also captured some great images of the flowing water…
Floral, Daisy, Macro
It is a contest with no winner… which is my favorite subject, dandelions or daisies. My answer will change depending on how good that last capture of either turned out. Today, I would have to answer daisy…
Floral, Daisy
Oh, you might have survived this year’s dandelion phase but now the daisies are here!
Mid-morning yesterday I drove over to the Mohawk River trail parking area in the Griffiss Industrial Park to explore any new blossoms. I had spotted some new additions while driving back from the grocery store Friday evening and wanted to get out of the apartment before the weather turned. Much to my surprise, one whole bank along the trail was covered in daisies. I will apologize now…
