We had our first frost this past week. Still not a fan of the cold but the temps eventually got up close to 50 degrees so I shouldn’t complain. We are back to mid 70’s this week and should hit low 80 by Thursday. Mornings will be a little on the cool side but I can live with that…
Although I know the botanical garden is preparing for the holiday event I stopped over Sunday to see how the few remaining flowers handled the frost. Not great, but it is to be expected. It works for me though because I think there is a different beauty in a flower past its prime. What do you think?

When I was at Flat Rock Park Saturday morning I pulled out the Lensbaby Sweet 50 lens to play with after I captured the view I had in my head. I bought the Composer Pro II setup awhile ago after seeing amazing images online. I’m still learning how to use this lens. First up though is a grander view of the landscape…

The Sweet 50 optic has an adjustable in-focus area with a soft blur around the edges. This is a manual focus lens and my biggest challenge has been getting the center of the image sharp. I know I need to use this lens more not only to refine the focus process but also to find the images that work best with this effect.
