Gulf Creek Falls

Gulf Creek meets Big Brook

A friend of mine went hiking in Fillmore Glen State Park last week and it got me thinking… it is time for a trip to Ithaca so I can explore some of my favorite parks. As a little warm up I went out last evening to Big Brook, which is practically around the corner from my house (country distance terms).

I love the spot where Gulf Creek meets Big Brook. There is a nice little water fall area as well as plenty of spots to play with the water flow. I had a good hour of fun before the mosquitoes chased me away. And that reminded me to get my bug spray for my Ithaca trip.

Normally I would capture this area in landscape mode but I really liked how this portrait view turned out. The action is in the bottom of the picture. There is a dividing line with the fallen tree and then the lush green leaves on top. There are little touches too. Like the green leaf color reflected in the water at the very bottom and the highlights on the right side of the trees from the setting sun.

In The Yard – ITY42
Squared – SQ122

I believe I did warn everyone that it is dandelion season. I love the details you can see throughout the entire dandelion head. This one fits a couple of my running series. Another for In The Yard and I’m back loving the square format of my Squared series. I’ll admit, this one I played with the colors a little… 🙂

Do you know what time it is? Dandelion time! So consider this your warning for the year. I have a fascination with those pesky lawn annoyances…

One Opens, One Does Not Close…

Slow
West Canada Creek

A door opened… today I start a new job. Back to what I know, but something more. Hopefully, I haven’t forgotten.

Not closing a door… although I left, I do not want to forget. Friends are a precious commodity and the ones I made over the past two years I do not want to lose. I will stay in-touch with all of them.

I went up to the West Canada Creek yesterday before the sun completely dropped below the trees. The rains over the weekend provided the creek with the volume I needed to capture more turbulent flow. I also needed the serenity the sound of rushing water always brings me. I spent an hour playing in the creek… totally needed that time.

I will be thinking of you…
