Finally! Although the past week was unusually cold (and it freakin’ snowed!) more flowers are popping up. Yesterday was a welcomed change from the weather in the middle of the week. If we didn’t get to seventy degrees we came very close. I drove over to my go to spot for the colorful ground flowers and it was a treasure trove. I must have spent a good hour playing in the grass photographing those little flowers.

The original forecast for Sunday was rain. Nothing torrential but I thought it would be a slow, steady drizzle most of the day. Sunday was also my chore day as I ended up having to go to work on Saturday. So, laundry first thing, then breakfast at the diner down the street and groceries.
Around 11am it looked like the rain was not going to happen until later in the day, if at all. I packed up the camera and went searching for spring flowers. My first stop yielded a few daffodils and the image below. A little research has me believing these are glories of the snow. Help from the more floral aware would be appreciated.

Once I knew there were flowers to be found I drove over to the Griffiss Sculpture Garden on the old air base in Rome and walked the trails. I did find a few more subjects to photograph and had a really good time stretching my legs. I was looking for patterns and textures as well as as the signs of spring. Toward the end of my walk the sky was darkening and I knew I better get back to the car before the rain started.
I was in an artistic mood as I processed this image. The shallow depth of field and lite, pastel colors pushed me toward converting this one to a painterly image. I do like the effect…
In my year in review post I mentioned I currently have a love/hate relationship with Walt Disney World. I am still a fan and I will be taking more trips to the world especially after being rejuvenated by the excellent Disney+ series The Imagineering Story. My current frustration is with the decline in services at the parks and resorts. The little things that use to make the place extra special are slowing going away. Anyway, it could also be an overload condition from way to many trips…
I did a little something different this year as I processed my images. I finally worked out how to turn my favorite images into postcards. I have mentioned this in a few other posts throughout the year but I really stepped it up late in the year. I started with a group of ten images and created a set of postcards. I’m still working out how best to offer them to any interested parties but I wanted to share my results with everyone.

After a long list of Autumn images from my previous weekend excursion I thought I would end the week on a slightly different tone. I returned to vacation at Walt Disney World to find this one of the Casey Jr. Splash and Soak station in the Fantasyland section of the Magic Kingdom. If I am remembering correctly the rains had stopped briefly and I was running around grabbing images with as many reflections in the water as I could. I loved the blue hour sky blending perfectly with the colors of this area…
