Light Within

I went for a walk after dinner. No, it wasn’t because I ate too much… OK, maybe a little.

I decided to walk the canal trail. Not usually as many photo opportunities but I can hear the sounds of the Mohawk River. Added bonus today was the sound of the rustling leaves in the trees. The wind was an issue trying to grab my images, but I was OK with that. The concerto Mother Nature conducted was exactly what I needed.

I did find a few images…

I processed this one the other day. I really liked the combination of the colors. I think there is more to this image, but it is still rumbling around in my head. I stayed up late last night attempting to capture the Perseid meteors which did not go as well as planned. More on that adventure later…

Find Me

The walks around the building during lunch work wonders for me (although, I’m OK with a good power nap too). I get out of the cubicle and away from everything work related. The feel of the sun on my face powers me up for the rest of the day. I could try and say I’m getting exercise but I’m not really walking much, I’m exploring the grass/weeds/overgrowth at the edges of the parking lot.

I watch a few other friends as they are doing laps. They have a different purpose for their walk. Definitely out there for the exercise, passing me almost on a timed schedule. Good for them though! Too many other people are still in the office working through lunch. I want to yell at them, “Take a break!”, but they have to learn the lesson on their own.

My walk is slow, generally only once around, because I am exploring, searching for that over-looked subject to focus my lens. I find the things other walkers don’t see. I walk and I am attuned to the colors, the play of light and shadow. When I see it, I capture its image. This one said, “Find me”

The rain Sunday afternoon ended late. Stormy skies threatened a return. Indifference to getting wet had me exploring the trails in the Sculpture Garden. I was not alone. All my dreams followed me…

What is this?

I’m at a loss for words?

This can’t be right…

Well?

The same words keep playing in my head, but they aren’t meant for here…

Whatcha gonna do?

Sometimes it’s only a pretty picture… the title is enough. Lets go, the day is young.

The walk on Friday evening was along the Mohawk River trail. Although it was a beautiful day, the trail was surprisingly empty. This works to my advantage as I stop quite frequently to capture an image. Less people means less stares at the weird guy in the weeds.

I like walking this trail even though it offers less opportunities than the Sculpture Garden trail. This trial allows me to hear the water flowing in the river. And after a long week at work, that was exactly what I needed. The calming sounds of the babbling water… OK, every once in a while you can hear a car horn or city sounds, but I tune those out… focus! We are enjoying the sounds of the water…

I finally reach a section with a few more weeds along the edges. There are also more flowers. Don’t ask me to name them, I don’t know. I suppose if I’m going to take their picture I should get their name first. It would be the polite thing to do.

Then I spot Daisy! She is all alone. A touch of sadness washes over me. I love photographing daisies but I realize their season is up. This one I have to get right. Plenty of angles, changing light, there, that’s the one. Hold on daisy…
