Castle Sunset

Cinderella Castle
Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World

Persistence pays off!

I was rained out of my sunset on the day of my arrival to Walt Disney World. It was a close call on Sunday but Mother Nature was on my side. I knew it was worth being nice to her. I staked out my spot on the bridge early (shared it with a fellow photographer) and waited for the right lighting conditions. There were enough clouds in the sky along with a little haze to provide the color I wanted after the sun dropped below the tree line. The toughest part for me was waiting long enough for the castle lighting to be visible without over loading the camera (those blue lights are hell)…

Moroccan Afternoon

Morocco Pavilion, Epcot, Walt Disney World

I probably photograph the Morocco Pavilion at Epcot more than any other location. Although, the monorails definitely get photographed the most but they are in multiple locations. There is a very organic feel to Morocco. To me, it has a very real atmosphere, more than any of the other pavilions. Japan and China might be a close second but it is Morocco I point my camera at the most. The image was captured across Showcase Lagoon using my telephoto lens. The reflection caught my eye and from there I was changing lenses before I knew it…

The Marketplace

Harambe Market, Animal Kingdom, Walt Disney World

Although I was dodging the rain most of the evening, it did allow for some nice blue hour photographs. The added benefit of the rain is the number of people I had to wait for was drastically reduced. I’ve been able to capture an image of this area in the early morning but this one after sunset might be my favorite so far. The new wide-angle lens helped a lot to allow me to capture this in one image…

Bellamy Works

Bellamy Harbor Park
Honor America Days 2019, Rome, NY

My original intent was to capture the sunset at Bellamy Harbor from the Mill St. bridge. As I was waiting for the right light a few test fireworks were shot off in the direction of Fort Stanwix and I remembered that we are currently in the middle of Rome’s Honor America Days. I decided to wait it out and attempt to capture the fireworks show. I still do not do very well with fireworks…
