Ides of March
Possibly this is a side effect of me watching Spartacus on Netflix but today is the Ides of March. Not only known as the day Julius Caesar was assassinated and famously quoted in Shakespeare’s play Julius Caesar, it was the start of the ancient Roman year. So today I choose to look back at the start of my photography journey. Not all the way to the start but back to March 2012 when I purchased my first DSLR.
I haven’t had the opportunity to get out and capture this year’s March 15th(ish) image but here are reworked versions of my previous three. Not every image was shared on this blog but I will include links to the originals…

Sunset Snow
Delta Lake State Park
41 degrees! We made it to 41 degrees yesterday. It was glorious! Beautiful sunny day with very little cloud cover and minimal wind. It felt like we were in the tropics. OK, maybe not the tropics but after the sub-zero temperatures this warming up is a welcomed change.
I quickly threw together some dinner for the kids (its a law I have to feed them everyday, right? I mean they are 19 and 22, they should be able to forage for food on their own), grabbed the camera and tripod on my way out the door with Delta Lake State Park my final destination. The snow was way deeper than I have experienced at the park in previous years. I did manage to explore a little but my main goal was the sunset. I had the beach and this view to myself.
Summer Dreamin’
Chittenango Falls State Park
As I sit here at the computer watching it snow yet again I couldn’t help but dream of warmer days. I think the snow hurts more today after the nice sunny weather we experienced yesterday. I caught spring fever while I was out running errands and now I want the snow to just melt away.
As I was going through my image library for a book I was creating (personal project focusing on my Squared series) I noticed this image of Chittenango Falls. I’m not sure why I didn’t process this one last June but I thought doing so today would distract me from the white stuff coming down. Hopefully it will help the rest of you who are just as tired of winter as I am.
