The 2014 Stats

The obligatory post of the 2014 statistics as created by the WordPress system. It appears as though I have slowed down this year in my posting. Hopefully my posts have been more interesting to make up for the lower quantity. Yes, that is it, I’m going for quality over quantity. Good, I can live with that excuse… lol

2014 Summarized!

Thanks to everyone who has stayed with me throughout the year and provided such wonderful encouragement with your comments. I’m looking forward to another great year with my friends here in the digital ether! I’ll be finishing up the year tomorrow with my Best of 2014 post.

And I think this image represents the end of the day (or year) best…

Student Center
SUNY Polytechnic Institute

Last night as I waited for my daughter in the Student Center I listened as various groups of students entertained themselves in the game room. I was amazed at what is available for free at the Student Center. There are three pool tables, air hockey, ping pong and a few video games. After her test, as we were walking out of the building, I noticed the game room was empty and although I only had my phone with me I wanted to stop for a picture.

We ended up playing some ping pong before I worked my way over to one of the pool tables. I quickly setup the table and launched the cue ball into the arrangement. I’m not the greatest pool player but it allowed me to grab this image with the phone. What was more fun though was playing ping pong with my daughter. I’m going to have to drag her back there for a rematch… 🙂

Cinderella Obscured

Cinderella Castle
Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World

This morning I return to a previously posted image. One that was actually captured with my old Sony point & shoot on a family vacation prior to me becoming interested (obsessed) with photography. I enjoyed the color version of this image with Cinderella Castle shrouded in early morning fog but I think this monochrome redo turned out even better. You can view the original on this post from last year… Photo Magic 2013.

The Chute

Backyard Creek

Having to go to work does have a dampening affect on my photography time. Luckily I managed to grab a few images yesterday as I played in the creek behind the house. For now you may have to suffer through a few more slow water, long exposure, snow on the rocks images until I can get back out when there is light.

Backyard Creek

I guess not every morning can have a beautiful sunrise. I was hoping though… I settled for playing in the creek after grocery shopping. You can never take the kid out of the creek, or is it the creek out of the kid, or am I suppose to grow up? I forget what it is suppose to be. I just have fun exploring that creek behind the house. 😉

Trail Marker

Oh man, I’m on fire. Or maybe I wish I was as it was a little cold this morning. Have I mentioned that I am really starting to dislike being cold? At least I have officially managed a streak… three days n a row! Still not venturing too far away from the house. But with views like this I guess I don’t need to travel far. One more day in this long weekend and hopefully I’ll get more adventurous tomorrow morning.

Just down the road from the house one of the hundreds of miles of snowmobile paths crosses the road. It is a nice way to venture back into the fields without wading through all the snow. Plus it provides a nice view for the rising sun.

I have been giving my old Sigma 17-70mm lens some well deserved love lately. The first lens I bought and learned on still manages great pictures. Thought I lost it earlier this year but a quick trip to the repair center pumped new life into it.

Winter Path

Can two in a row be called a streak? Second day I’m out early to capture some images before anyone else in the house is even thinking of waking up. I got luck today with the clouds disappearing overnight although we do have another winter storm advisory in effect for today. I have plenty of left overs so I can ride this one out… lol!
