Finally, the Zoo…

I finally managed to finish processing the images from my trip last month to the Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse, NY. A few of these have already made their way into blog posts but I wanted to include them here so everyone can enjoy the whole group. I managed to accumulate quite a few more images than I showcase here but these are my best from that day. Next time I will try using a circular polarizer to reduce any glare on the glass.

Anyone in the central NY area that is interested in visiting the zoo can check out all it has to offer here: Rosamond Gifford Zoo. I was very impressed with the zoo and will definitely be making additional trips out to visit. Maybe I’ll wait for spring so I can get some better outside images…

Industrial

This week over at A Word in Your Ear the Word a Week Challenge is all about industrial images. You can check out the original post here AWAWC: Industrial. My intent was to get out and capture a few new images but once again work and the weather have made that a challenge unto itself. Hopefully, a recycling of a few images from July 2012 will not offend anyone.

I had been driving past each of these buildings/structures for years and when I caught the photography fever I always wanted to capture them in the early morning light. I was fortunate enough one morning in July to get the sunrise I was looking for and the time to visit each location. I was very happy with how each image turned out and have been keeping my eye open for additional subjects, but surprisingly it isn’t as easy as I thought. I keep looking though…

The Bird Feeder

The weather while I was at my Dad’s house was not very conducive to photography. I captured the first image early one morning before the wind started to kick up and cause everyone to run for the house. The second two images I captured from the warmth of the kitchen through the window. The slight dullness is due to the window screen I was focusing through. I think it is time for me to get a feeder for the back yard…

Lookout Silhouette

Went out to visit my family this weekend with my daughter. Although it was a long drive we had a great time. The weather didn’t cooperate so I was unable to go exploring with the camera. I had that itch that needed to be scratched so after we returned home today I went for a walk down around the Utica Marsh.

This is a observation/lookout stand supposedly used for viewing the happenings in the marsh. To bad they do not keep the view cleared that looks into the marsh. The only opening lets you look clearly in the wrong direction. I still liked the outline and shadows created by the structure. I tried a little cross processing in an attempt to add a little to the image. Not sure it worked…

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Black and White or Sepia Tones

Cee Neuner has a weekly photo challenge over on her blog. This week’s challenge is all about B&W or sepia toned images, as you can probably tell by the title of this post.

I have been looking at this particular image since I captured it on Saturday. There is a strong blue sky which definitely accentuates the snow and the pine needles in the strong side light. I liked the detail I was able to capture in the pine cone and the piece of branch. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to process it in color or B&W. The challenged helped make up my mind.

This also makes a nice addition to my Monochrome Winter series…
