Winter on the Lake

Delta Lake State Park

Winter on the Lake – Portfolio Blog

I was not a happy camper yesterday. I awoke to the sound of wind and rain on my window. My hope for going out to capture a sunrise was quickly diminishing. So were my plans to test the X-T2 a little more before I needed to send it back. The day unfolded and my mood only worsened. I’ll admit, I pouted.

I should have had faith in Mother Nature. We are usually on good speaking terms. Around 3:30 in the afternoon she came through for me. The sun worked its way through the clouds and as I looked to the west I could tell it was going to be a good sunset. I got the cats fed, charged up the camera battery and headed over to Delta Lake State Park for the show. It was so worth it!

I’m really enjoying the manual adjust dial layout on the X-T2. I can adjust the exposure quickly without removing my eye from the viewfinder. The multi-angled view screen is great for when I switch to portrait mode as well. The small joystick for re-positioning the focus point just works for me. I had a good time on the frozen lake last night. Hopefully this image reflects my mood…

Delta Lake State Park

I started Saturday at the Utica Marina but I ended up at my favorite stomping grounds, Delta Lake State Park. Practically balmy conditions made it easy to walk around the park with the snowshoes. It didn’t hurt that the sky has some great clouds to catch the light from the setting sun. Also, I’m always a sucker for a good reflection, even if it is only a muted trail of sunlight.
