Sbandieratori Di Sansepolcro

Italy Pavilion, World Showcase, Epcot

I always enjoy stopping to watch the entertainment at the parks when I visit. There are more than a few favorites at each, although Disney has done a good job at switching out some long time fan favorites. Alas, the show must go on…

I have never stayed to watch the Tuscan flag throwing show in the Italy Pavilion. I’m glad that I did. It is an interesting show to watch. I’m not sure if it is because I am waiting for a flag to be dropped or the possibility that someone would get hit, the show held my interest. There is a lot of movement during the show and I practiced trying to capture that movement/energy within my picture.

Earth Day

Flower & Garden Festival, Epcot

With yesterday being John Muir‘s birthday (the Father of the National Parks) and today is Earth Day I thought it appropriate to share this image of Mickey in the National Park Foundation display at Epcot’s Flower & Garden Festival.

Sorcerer Monorail 2

Monorail Monday

Although I only went to a Disney park on one day my last trip to Florida I managed to satisfy my monorail hunting addiction. I enjoyed Epcot and the International Flower & Garden Festival but looking through my 300 images from that day I really did obsess over those dang monorails.

Disney once again placed the Sorcerer Mickey topiary in the plaza between the Imagination and Land pavilions so I think I was obligated to capture it with a monorail in the background. I mean, you have to have one on the monorail track if it is in your picture, right? That is a rule, isn’t it? Someone back me up… LOL.

I tried something a little different with the processing of this image.  Along with my normal work flow I added a little radial blur around the edges to bring the focus back to the center of the image.  I did this as the composition did not have any way of directing your eye to my intended subject(s).  I might be pushing this image a little by calling it a Monorail Monday shot, but hey, it is worth a try.  I do like this topiary display.  😉

Boardwalk Joe’s

Disney Boardwalk Area

I think I could visit Disney and spend just as much time exploring around Crescent Lake as I would in any of the theme parks. Between the resorts, Yacht & Beach Clubs and the Boardwalk, and the actual boardwalk area itself there is such a nice relaxed atmosphere that I could get lost in it for a while. Even on my only day visiting Epcot last week I left the park to walk around this area. It removed me from the hustle and crowds of the park that were beginning to wear me down.

I realize that a Disney vacation is something special to most of the visitors. Something that might only happen once in a lifetime. My first few visits were the same way… run around and try to see it all. It wasn’t until I slowed down did I begin to enjoy what was at Disney. The Boardwalk area is one of those slow down and enjoy places.

Although I did not stop at Boardwalk Joe’s and imbibe one of the marvelous margaritas I really like the contrasting colors offered by this stand.  It doesn’t hurt that the background includes my beloved Yacht Club Lighthouse.  I also went with my current trend of including people in my landscape images.  It transforms the image from a static, colorful image to one with life and activity.  I’m beginning to like these more and more…
