Another beautiful day here in Upstate New York and I did not let it slip away without a walk during lunch. Ate quickly, grabbed the camera and headed toward the town park up the road from the plant. It is convenient and because I have been numerous times in the past few weeks it forces me to ‘see’ differently each visit in order to come away with any images.
I tries a little different processing on this image. I thought about a straight up B&W conversion but there was not enough tonal difference to work with. I ended up desaturating the colors slightly to help bring the focus tree further into the foreground and let the texture of the tree stand out.

Thirty in Eleven – TIE07
Considering that this thirty day project is something I created for myself I suppose I should not feel “bad” for not getting out with the camera today but I do. I hate to miss goals, even a self imposed one. As an attempt to satisfy that weird part of my brain that is telling me I failed I thought I would use today to introduce my new photography portfolio… MLCreations Photography.
This new site is meant to be a display of my images. Hopefully, sorted in a better order to allow everyone a chance to view my various themes in a more cohesive manner. The site is still a work in progress with only four portfolios created so far (and even those are not completely filled out yet). I would love to hear any thoughts about this new site. The weather forecast this morning was ‘iffy’ at best so I only brought along my Olympus E-P3 camera. I thought maybe I could grab a quick image during lunch or just before picking my daughter up from college. Even though the sun is setting way earlier than I am use to I did manage to wander around part of the SUNYIT campus after work. There was a beautiful sunset that I was able to capture in the reflection off the new nanotechnology building (I’ll share later) but what really caught my eye were the bicycle racks outside of the Student Center. Let me know what you think of them…

I’m not sure it is a good thing that I was thinking about making these cookies all day at work. I knew with the sun setting early that my time outside would be limited and that if I made the cookies I would have a good subject for the fourth image in my project. Oh, and I could also eat some of them if they turned out OK.
Pssstt… they did! Quite delicious. Pumpkin spice cookies with cream cheese frosting. Just a little past Halloween but definitely in the fall spirit. My department at work will be happy as they get the bounty of my cooking experiments. No way I can leave these at home, they wouldn’t last long and I would be putting on the pounds.

A beautiful sunset and me without my tripod. I even left work a little early to get a jump on the sky as it was setting up for this show. I had to pick my daughter up at college tonight right around sunset and peeking out the windows at work I knew it was going to be a good one. Unfortunately, I had used the tripod on Friday when I went playing in the creek and failed to return it to the car. Now I needed to get creative with some handheld images. I’m always a fan of a strong silhouette and the view from the upper parking lots did not disappoint. This is looking southwest over the Wildcat Field House.
