Curled Divide
Top Down
The other evening after dinner I walked around the back yard again exploring with the camera. I wasn’t looking for anything in particular, but I had left the 35mm lens on the camera and wanted to ‘see’ my familiar subjects in a different way. I ended up capturing some wild flowers/plants from a top down perspective.
This was definitely something a little different for me. Not so much the top down look but after the first image I purposely looked for additional opportunities with this view in mind. Usually I just point the camera at some subjects that catch my eye and review what I get back in the house. It is rare that I plan out a post or a group of images with a single theme in mind.
It was fun…

Hooked on You
This was the project last weekend – new clothes poles in the back yard. Last spring (2012) I had to pull up the old clothes poles to make room to dig a new line from the well. When I went to re-plant them one of them snapped in half. I suppose they were due to be replaced anyway, they were here when I bought the house 19 years ago.
This year was the year to get the new ones into the ground. I dug the holes and then the water came. And it came. And it came. It wasn’t until last weekend that the ground finally was dry enough for me to get to work. Everything turned out well. Clothes were dried this weekend and nothing fell over.
I thought I would try a new project – images using the square format. I liked how my Monochrome Winter project went this year and I needed something to keep me exploring outside my comfort zone of landscapes. Hopefully I’ll learn something along the way…
