Monorail Monday: Monorail Umbrella

Epcot, Walt Disney World

It probably isn’t a stretch to know that I love photographing the monorails when I am in Walt Disney World. It is now a challenge to discover unique compositions and in doing so it brings out the explorer in me. I stopped on one of the walkways between Future World and World Showcase one afternoon while in Epcot. The yellow and white umbrella was an interesting site from my vantage point sitting on a bench. I just had to wait for a monorail…

Monorail Monday: Resort Monorail – Teal

Monorail Monday

On my last trip to Walt Disney World I discovered the joy of going to the parks lite. There were numerous times I just grabbed the camera, a single lens and headed out for adventure. No long lines to have my bag checked by security. No worrying if the backpack will fit in a locker along with the tripod and everything else I normally haul into a park. It was a game changer for me.

This image of the Monorail Teal leaving the Magic Kingdom station is a result of that lite mode of operation. I had the camera on its strap and as soon as I noticed the monorail leaving the station as I was walking up to the park entranced I started firing away. Normally the camera would still have been its backpack for the eventual search at bag check.

Monorail Monday: Monorail Odyssey

A view of Monorail Black with Spaceship Earth in the background and the Odyssey building on the right. I was walking toward the Mexico Pavilion when I spied this view. I really liked the natural framing provided by the tree and also the splash of color from the Odyssey building. Plus, bonus points for me for getting a new view of the monorail! 🙂

Monorail Monday: Blue Land

International Flower & Garden Festival,
Epcot, Walt Disney World

Hi! My name is Mike. I chase monorails.

One of my favorite activities while I am exploring in Epcot is to capture the monorails as they make their way through the loop around Spaceship Earth on the approach to the Epcot station. You can practically be guaranteed one will be gliding by every 20 minutes. There are some favorite locations I always have to capture and then there is the challenge of finding something new and/or unique.

During Epcot’s International Flower & Garden Festival a favorite location is from the walkway between Future World and World Showcase. This location also allows for a great view of the festival blossoms and the floating planters. Lucky for me, there was the right amount of clouds to sky mixture to keep the view interesting and provide some nice reflections in the water.
