I broke away from my normal tendency and signed up to participate in this year’s Worldwide Photowalk. I believe this was the sixth year Scott Kelby has held his photowalk and I was lucky enough to find a walk close to home. I would normally shy away from something like this but since I will be going to Disney in a few weeks to participate in a Photographer’s event there I thought this would be a good warm up for me (normally I don’t play well with others… 🙂 ).
I had such a good time! I met really great people. We had a fun time walking around Clinton, NY and I even managed to capture a few images. This was more an architectural detail style of walk and I tried to expand my vision but I found myself falling back on my normal type of images. I still need to learn to see more broadly.
The best part of the day was after lunch we sat around a few computers and viewed what everyone captured. I was amazed at the images everyone found. I walked right next to these people but didn’t ‘see’ what they saw. I’m looking but not seeing. Will work on that in Disney too!
Here are a few of images I did see…

Nice, fall started already.
Thanks and yes it has!
This is great! So glad you enjoyed the walk, Michael!
Thanks Gail! Such a great group of people to explore with around the center of Clinton.
Beautiful post! Especially the first one.
Thanks Amy!
It always surpise me as well Mike that when you meet other photographers how varied our perspective can be of the same subject matter. I have to say these a images capture the fall in a enjoyable way telling a visual story. I am drawn to “floating ” and “one among the fallen” probably because of the abstraction. Hope you have a great end to the week
Thanks James! ‘Floating’ is my favorite of the group. Wishing you the best and an enjoyable weekend.
Thanks very much Mike you too!
Good for you Mike! I’ve heard of these photowalks and never felt comfortable with the idea of looking for one within reasonable driving distance for me. I consider myself just a hobbyist and thought these were for more advanced photographers and the thought of that makes me feel shy. Looks like you had a great time however! I found “Time to Say Goodbye” quite poignant. Your thoughtful captions really add to your photography.
Thanks Karma! If you get a chance to go on a photowalk I would definitely encourage you to go. There were professional photographers as well as hobbyist and an iPhone shooter. No ‘out-of-place’ feelings for me. We walked, we talked, we grabbed some pictures. I learned to see differently just by watching what the others took pictures of. I’m now looking forward to my next opportunity (which will be in Disney next week!)
Sometimes the captions come as I process but more often than not it is what I was thinking when I grabbed the picture…
I really love the first image and the third to last one. There was also a photowalk in my town but I didn’t go, maybe next time. I have the same problem of looking but not seeing. Apparently there is always something to capture but some days we just don’t see, maybe we’re too preoccupied or stressed. Have fun in Disney at the photographer’s event 🙂
How FUN!! You’ve captured some really nice images, too! I like them all, but I think the first one is my favorite
