This week’s theme is barns and/or animals. I kinda failed at both! There are a few barns around the neighborhood (which for me is a short driving distance) and there are animals associated with the barns but nothing interesting poked its head out while I was exploring. I even tried to be cute and did some indoor portrait images of Pokemon plushies but was not happy with the results (I need a better backdrop, lol).
So I am going to use some images I captured last weekend at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse, NY. I mentioned earlier in the week that the trip was not as fulfilling as I had hoped due to the weather but I did manage a few nice images of the animals in the indoor enclosures. These images are always challenging as I have to really increase the ISO to get my shutter speed up to what I need to capture a non-blurry image. Luckily for me Topaz Labs DeNoise does a really nice job cleaning up the results.

This is kind of weird, Mike! I swear that I left a comment here yesterday. I must have typed it and forgotten to hit “post comment” or something. I wanted to tell you how much I love the lions – I’ve always had a fascination with the big cats. And the parrot is a beautiful splash of color on these gray winter days. 🙂
Thanks Karma! If it makes you feel any better I’ve left the page before hitting ‘post’ before and I think it even asks you if you want to leave but I was too quick on the click. 🙂 The lions are pretty cool, I just wish I didn’t have to shoot through glass.
Fantastic image of the lions !! The colours and patterns of the parrot are amazing.
I use Topaz DJpeg which does a really good job on some images and I’m interested in DeNoise. I love their plug-ins and they are quite affordable.
The lions were tough. I had to capture the image through a window. I think you would DeNoise. It does a great job of lessening the effect of noise when I have to push the ISO higher than I would like.
