Oil Can Project – OCP12

Wow! It has been a little over two months since my last post for my Oil Can Project. That is too long of a delay! What have I been doing? Well, whatever it was, I definitely need to get back on this project. Although, I suppose I need to find more display space as my current shelf is getting a little full.

This latest little gem is from a good friend of mine. We worked together for a couple of years before I jumped ship a few weeks back. I missed seeing him before I left on my last day and we have been trying to get together to catch up. Funny how it appears you have a lot of free time but when you need to coordinate a few hours to meet up, the hours never align.

Well, after listening to me drone on about this project he must have decided to contribute to my habit rather than keep suggesting I attend those meetings… flea market anonymous. I was never going to go to a meeting, I heard they didn’t have cake…

Thanks Bob! This one is a great addition to my collection. I was able to find this same model on the “Plews & Edelmann” website. I was hoping for a cool name but this is how it is listed: “Oiler, Pistol, 6oz., 6″ Rigid, Base Holder”. Amazingly, it still looks exactly like this one, but without any of the character of this little guy. BTW – We still need to get together to catch up!

Inspiration Point, Letchworth State Park

Letchworth State Park is big! The park is roughly 16 miles long. There are numerous areas to explore. Typically I like to be able to get close to the waterfalls but you can not deny the view from Inspiration Point. It is a spot along the gorge wall where you are looking up the Genesee River at Middle and Upper Falls. It is a beautiful scene. I am usually in the park very early for the morning light but one of these days I will have to capture this area at sunset.

Delivery Rest Stop

Harambe, Africa, Animal Kingdom, Walt Disney World

When you are all set on the attractions you want to ride, the extra magic hour in the morning allows for uninterrupted exploring around the Animal Kingdom. While everyone else was racing to Flight of the Avatar or Expedition Everest, I was looking at the details created for Harambe village. It was great to take my time and capture images without feeling like I was in the way of other guests. My images in this area always feel like I should process them with a vintage look… what do you think?

You’ve got to sing like you don’t need the money
Love like you’ll never get hurt
You’ve got to dance like nobody’s watchin’

WDW in B&W – WBW19
Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World

As soon as you enter the Magic Kingdom, you find yourself at the turn of the twentieth century on Main Street U.S.A. One of my favorite first stops is the train station. From the second floor I can see down Main Street to the castle. It is also a great people watching location. I like to explore the station itself as I can always find interesting details to photograph. I really like the curved stairs leading up to the second floor. I know I have photographed this view before but I do not think I have processed it. It felt right to convert this one to B&W…

New Bridge

Upper Falls, Letchworth State Park

For today’s post I am back at Letchworth State Park. The bridge over Upper Falls has been replaced and surprisingly, it looks pretty good for a man-made intrusion. You can see the old bridge at this post. With the amount of water in the Genesee river, the mist rising up from the falls created a challenge to keep the front of the lens clear. On the plus side it kept a lot of people from getting too close which gave me plenty of room to setup the tripod… 🙂
