USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park, Mobile, AL
I ended up going down to Mobile, A this week for work. It was going to be a quick trip, only a few days so I generally pack as light as I can. I didn’t afford myself any room to bring the camera but I figured I would be working most of the time anyway. I didn’t account for the shift in our schedule so we did not interfere with the normal activity during the day. We worked 2pm until we were done, so I had some time on my hands Thursday morning.
Mobile is home to the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park. I passed the memorial on my way to the hotel my first night. It looked incredible. I had to go. It was amazing! I ran around the park with my phone trying to take it all in and grabbing as many images as I could. I wasn’t positive if I would be back down any time soon.
The first image is an edit I did on Thursday from my phone to show the USS Alabama. The rest of this post will be images from the USS Drum. A Gato-class, WW II submarine. I’ll be doing more posts to show of the incredible history collected in this park…
Bellamy Harbor Park, Rome, NY
I was driving to my son’s in Albany Sunday morning to help him winterize his new apartment. It is an older house and the colder weather increased the awareness of the drafts within the place. His first attempts by himself were slight unsuccessful. I always had to perform the same tasks around my house so this was an easy assist for me. Plus, he has always been bragging about the places to eat he has found in Albany so I figured my payment could be lunch at one of those places…
The timing of my departure was going to be right at sunrise and I had hoped I would be able to capture something interesting. As I was getting ready to leave I was unsure how the sunrise would unfold as the clouds were making there way across the sky but I did still see a sliver of light along the horizon. I drove to Bellamy Harbor Park and was able to catch a few rays of sunlight before the clouds consumed the sky.
Crescent Lake, Walt Disney World
I currently have a love/hate relationship with Disney. Although I have enjoyed the last few trips to my second home, I am frustrated in the direction the company has been going with the theme parks. It isn’t as special as it used to be. The little things are being forgotten in favor of what in my opinion is a grab for the money. I told myself I needed to take a break and for once in a very long time I do not have a trip planned any time soon. Still, there is a part of me that misses the experience of visiting the resorts. Here is a panoramic view of the Yacht and Beach Club resorts from the Wedding Pavilion near the Boardwalk…
