Google Lens informed my this is a Green Heron. I have no basis to argue. I thought he was interesting as the morning sun changed the lighting conditions. I’m still investigating a longer lens as I needed to crop these images a little more than I prefer…

I saw green herons for the first time in Florida a couple years ago. I’ve never seen them up here although the Merlin Bird ID app says they do migrate in breeding season. I’m glad you’re enjoying stalking the birds. One of the photographers I follow on Instagram says it’s great to practice on the birds that are common near you, so keep having fun!
Definitely need practice, but the fun is in the attempt.
