10 & 98 Come Together

Mobile Bay, Alabama

I’m spending a little more time in Mobile, Alabama this weekend for work. Our only opportunity to get our tasks done was this weekend so I flew in on Friday evening. We had a good day yesterday, accomplishing most of our tasks so I had a little time this morning to get out with the camera (yes, I brought it this time!). If we have a good morning today I might go back to the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park for better quality pics (fingers crossed).

This morning I stopped where Interstate 10 crosses Route 98 in the middle of Mobile Bay. I was hoping for a little more sunrise color in the sky but the clouds had not yet rolled past. You can see a sliver of orange barely above the interstate. It is all good, I do love me some light reflections on water…

Although I am frustrated with Disney right now I am starting to miss not planning a trip down for the holiday season. Last November was a great time to get into the spirit of the season…

USS Drum

USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park, Mobile, AL

I ended up going down to Mobile, A this week for work. It was going to be a quick trip, only a few days so I generally pack as light as I can. I didn’t afford myself any room to bring the camera but I figured I would be working most of the time anyway. I didn’t account for the shift in our schedule so we did not interfere with the normal activity during the day. We worked 2pm until we were done, so I had some time on my hands Thursday morning.

Mobile is home to the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park. I passed the memorial on my way to the hotel my first night. It looked incredible. I had to go. It was amazing! I ran around the park with my phone trying to take it all in and grabbing as many images as I could. I wasn’t positive if I would be back down any time soon.

The first image is an edit I did on Thursday from my phone to show the USS Alabama. The rest of this post will be images from the USS Drum. A Gato-class, WW II submarine. I’ll be doing more posts to show of the incredible history collected in this park…
