The first time I visited the Cascadilla Gorge Trail it was in the process of being renovated. This point in the trail was as far as you could hike as the stairs were being rebuilt. I didn’t think much of this location until my trip to Ithaca two weeks ago. I wanted to explore a different area rather than re-walk familiar ground… OK, I didn’t want to hike Robert Treman State Park. That hike always kills me. There I said it, are you happy?

I mentioned the other day of my trip to Ithaca to explore around the city for waterfalls. I typically start out at Taughannock Falls to minimize the effect of the sun on my ability to capture pictures along the gorge trail. Once you reach the end of the roughly one mile trail you are rewarded with a spectacular view of the two hundred fifteen foot waterfall. As I have said, good waterfall pictures really do hinge on the volume of the water flow. I timed my visit right…
