The Little Things

I attempted to post the first image yesterday morning but the website I use for my portfolio was having issues. I was able to upload the image but seeing it and linking to it was a different matter all together. The idea for a new series came about on Sunday. I went for an afternoon walk along the trail paralleling the Mohawk River. I like this trail for numerous reasons but currently, the best reason, is I can walk to from my apartment.

There are a couple accounts in my Instagram feed that truly amaze me and inspire my exploration with the macro lens.

Darrin Playle – @darrinplayle
macro_alldaylong (Gail) – @macro_alldaylong

On my walk Sunday I focused on the little things, those views or objects most would walk past. I’ve walked the trail a lot this summer and generally take the macro lens with me, but this time I really focused on exploring the small details. I do this type of thing when I walk around the building at work, more out of necessity due to location, but everywhere you go there are little things to photograph. I’m hoping I can highlight them more with my The Little Things series…

Autumn in the Water

Beaver Lake Nature Center

I hadn’t planned on going down the section of trail I ended up on while exploring the Bog Trail at Beaver Lake Nature Center. There were a few people coming down the trail towards me and I took a turn to allow them to pass. I’m happy this happened. Otherwise, I would not have found the observation platform hidden in the bog at the edge of the lake. The view was perfect on a sunny day. The colors of the leaves across the lake, the reflection, the leaves in the water, all great layers combining into a beautiful view. I stood there enjoying this for quite a while…
