In my post on Saturday I promised an image of the fresh green that is taking hold up at Delta Lake State Park. It has not dominated the landscape but near the waters edge I was able to find some good growth. I’m looking forward to the leaves filling out and completing the idyllic look for this park. As you know, I’ll keep you posted… 🙂

Yesterday morning started off way better than the forecast had predicted. We were suppose to get some rain, possibly not until later in the day, but looking out the window there was no clue what was on the way. There was a nice heavy dew on the ground and because I was a little lazy about mowing my lawn I had an enormous amount of dandelions sprouting up everywhere. Yes, it was time to put the macro lens on the camera, dust off the tripod and go out dandelion hunting. OK, maybe it wasn’t as dramatic as all that and yes, I have been consistently shooting the little weeds, but it did sound nice, right?
I was looking for something a little different to capture. I also thought I would try the new focus stacking option of my camera. This is an option that will change the focal plane backwards and forwards from the initial location, combine all the images and output a file that has a greater band of in-focus in the image than would normally be possible. I did manage to get an image, but I am still processing it so you are being forewarned, it is coming… 🙂
Today’s image just looked cool to me. The morning dew was hanging on the the dandelion and giving it a subdued look. I focused on the seed at the center of the head but due to my orientation some of the white parachute ends are also in focus. If you zoom in on the image you will be able to see all the water droplets clinging to the dandelion.

Delta Lake State Park
The other night, after a day of almost record high temperature, I knew I had to go wander around Delta Lake State Park. I have been waiting for the green to arrive and wash away the over abundance of the color brown. I did find some of my sought after color but I also could not ignore the color of the sunset. I’ll manage to show some of that green in another post.
This image is taken right at the edge of the water looking through some of the grow that populates the northern end of the beach. There was just enough of a breeze to give me a little movement on the surface of the water. Before I headed out I changed the center column on my tripod to use the shorter version which allowed me to get the camera down within a few inches of the surface. I really liked the low point of view.

Old Erie Canal Park

I found out that my work is only two minutes away from the Old Erie Canal Park. I have made a few trips over to the park during lunch but with a nice forecast yesterday I knew I would be going during lunch. I finally remembered to bring my filters for my lenses. I really wanted/needed my variable ND filter to block as much sunlight as possible which would allow me to smooth out the water in the creek.
I am sure over the course of this summer I will be making numerous visits to this park. There is a lot to explore and I found quite a few unmarked trails along Butternut Creek that I want to see where they go. I did manage to get a few interesting images.

Twisted Rooster
Chesterfield, MI
Spending a couple of days in Chesterfield, Michigan visiting a supplier of my company. Decided to try a new place (at least new to me) for dinner, the Twisted Rooster. A local to Michigan chain the boasts Michigan micro brewery beers on tap and the best mac & cheese. Well at the suggestion of the waitress I tried the Bellaire Brown and got a side of the mac & cheese with my Reuben. Both were great! I grabbed this image on my way back to the hotel…

I couldn’t let another Monday pass by without posting an image of a monorail! Looking back at the pictures I captured on my one Disney park day in March I think a good third of them are of a monorail. I’ll chalk it up to me still trying to find that new and unique image. Yeah, that is what I’ll tell myself… LOL
