Museum of Aviation, Robins AFB
This week is the Blackbird Days at the Museum of Aviation at Robins AFB. I decided to forget about work on Friday and return to the museum for the event. For those unfamiliar, the Blackbird is the name of the SR-71 aircraft, a long-range, high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft. The particular aircraft on display at the museum is the one that holds the world speed record for a manned jet aircraft at a speed of 2193.167 mph, or Mach 3.3.

Slice the Air

I can’t even imagine that speed. Amazing.
One of the Blackbirds flew from California to D.C. in 64 minutes… Incredible to me!
Wow. Do they fly higher than commercial airliners? Or did air traffic controllers clear a corridor of space for them?
They fly a lot higher than commercial aircraft but I also assume the corridor was cleared.
If I knew how to put a whistling emoji here I would! What a crazy speed!
