The End of Day

Delta Lake State Park

Sunday morning started out well as I was able to walk over to the river from my apartment and grab a few images of the sunrise. It was about using the morning light as it lit a scene rather than include the sun in the image. The rest of the day was about getting some of the chores completed that had been pushed to the side all week long. By the time the sun was beginning to set I was ready for more photography.

I drove the short distance to “old faithful”, Delta Lake State Park, to explore and see what caught my eye. The beach was still populated by a lot of people so I walked up to the picnic area above the beach. I was able to capture the sun as it began it’s descent below the horizon. Composing through the trees allowed me to use the branches as a natural frame. There was a slight haze in the air which dulled the sun enough so I could captured it without blowing the highlights. I also was able to get a few starbursts of light off the sun.

Morning Power

Bellamy Harbor Park, Rome, NY

The sunrise was looking too good yesterday to not stop and attempt to grab an image. On my way out of town I stopped at Bellamy Harbor Park to see what I could capture. The view looking toward the park and down the Barge Canal was not that impressive. All the colors and drama where in the sky looking more North. From the pedestrian bridge over the Mohawk I was able to get the colors I wanted, you only have to live with the power lines in the view…
