Cruisin’ Discovery River

Sometimes you get lucky. I happened to be crossing the bridge to Discovery Island when I noticed a boat coming down Discovery River. I quickly pulled the camera out of the bag and clicked off off a picture. I slightly over-exposed the image but was able to recover my error in Lightroom. Notice how the boat’s path through the lily pads leads right back toward Expedition Everest. Not a bad image for a quick shot…

Delta Lake Dam

Through the Glass – TTG02

I am having a lot of fun using the Lensball in my images. I decided I should create its own series. So I went back to the first post where I names this series (unknowingly) and created post number one. This is now the second in this new series, Through the Glass. I rolled out of bed a little later than normal since I decided to call this my off day at the gym, but I was still able to drag my butt over to the Delta Lake dam for some sunrise images. Kayak Anyone?

Green Lakes State Park

Yesterday was a friend’s birthday. I decided a few weeks ago I would take the day off and bring her a couple of pictures. As the weekend approached I thought she might take the day off from work but I knew a few people who could put them on her desk so she would have something when she returned. I kept to my plan. Presents successfully delivered.

Now, what to do with the rest of the day. Considering my friend is from my previous job out in Syracuse I had a lot of possibilities. I ended up going to a few of the state parks on my way back home. Although I thought I might run into a little rain as the sky was starting to cloud over, I managed to avoid any water falling (except for a waterfall or two… ). I started with my old lunch time stomping ground while I worked in Syracuse, the Old Erie Canal Park in DeWitt. Second on my park tour was Green Lakes State Park and I ended with a recurring favorite, Chittenango Falls State Park. I thought of a few others but my stomach was calling for food and I had a few errands to run back home.

There have been a lot of improvements at Green Lakes State Park since my last visit. I really like what they have been doing. As I walked around the lake I found some kayaks stacked and ready to rent. They added a great ‘pop’ of color to this serene view of the swimming area. I’m going to have to remember this park as the leaves turn colors this fall…
